About Us
Jay joined Selby Jennings and their parent company, Phaidon International, in 2017, bringing with him a wealth of expertise in tech recruitment. Specializing in Software Development, ML Research, Data Engineering, and Database Infrastructure, Jay has become a preferred talent strategist for a wide range of firms, from startups to Wall Street blue-chips and quant trading pioneers.Over the years, Jay has fostered long-term relationships with these firms, leading to retained business, successful multi-headcount campaigns, and executive level searches. His deep understanding of the market and exceptional performance led to his exclusive retention by a global FinTech firm for a six-headcount greenfield team build. One of his most significant achievements includes developing a Top 3 Asset Manager account with over $7 trillion in capital, where he placed over 20 data scientists and engineers, leading to over $1M in invoicing for Selby Jennings.

In terms of executive search, Jay’s accomplishments include placing an Executive Director of Machine Learning at one of the world’s top four largest banks. In 2020, he was recognized for having the most placements with Phaidon’s Top Ten clients across North America and holds the record for the largest two placements in terms of deal size for Phaidon’s Infrastructure USA team history. Beyond individual success, Jay has shown exceptional leadership skills. He built the Selby Jennings Data & AI Search team from scratch, managing a team of four that generated over $900K for the business in 2022. Jay’s strategic approach to team building, which includes targeting underrepresented communities, first-generation Americans, and military veterans, ensures a diverse team that drives high performance. Jay’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion is not just a strategy; it’s a testament to his belief in the power of diverse teams.

Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (ED&I)
Jay’s commitment to ED&I is demonstrated in his roles as the Head of ED&I for Phaidon’s New York City office and the Vice Chairman of ED&I for Phaidon’s North American offices. His contributions earned him the title of 2021 ED&I Most Valuable Contributor across all of Phaidon’s offices nationally.
